What is the AIP BIPOC Network?

The Autoimmune BIPOC Network is a nonprofit dedicated to improving the quality of life for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) living with autoimmune disease and other chronic illnesses. We provide culturally relevant resources, education, and advocacy to address the unique needs of our communities.

What does AIP stand for?

AIP stands for Autoimmune Protocol and Access, Inclusion, Prevention.

Autoimmune Protocol: A dietary and lifestyle framework that removes potentially inflammatory foods, prioritizes nutrient-dense options, and supports overall well-being through stress management, movement, and rest.

Access, Inclusion, Prevention: Our organizational framework that drives our programs and advocacy — ensuring equitable access to care, creating inclusive spaces, and promoting prevention strategies in BIPOC communities living with autoimmune disease and other chronic illnesses.

What does BIPOC stand for?

BIPOC means Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. We use this term to center the experiences of these communities, acknowledge systemic racism and inequities, and demonstrate solidarity among communities of color.

Why the Need for the Term BIPOC?

BIPOC is more specific than “people of color” or “POC.” It recognizes the unique histories, challenges, and resilience of Black and Indigenous communities, while acknowledging that systemic racism continues to disproportionately impact their health and well-being.

What type of support do you offer?

We offer education, advocacy, and culturally sensitive resources to help individuals manage autoimmune disease and other chronic illnesses. Our programs connect people to trusted information, peer support, and opportunities to engage in systemic change.

How do you address health disparities?

We raise awareness about autoimmune disease in BIPOC communities, advocate for policy change, and create access to culturally relevant care and resources. By addressing both medical needs and the social determinants of health, we work toward a future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
