Every August 28, Give 8/28 brings national attention and support to Black-led and Black-benefiting nonprofit organizations across the country.
Held during Black Philanthropy Month, the annual day of giving encourages people to intentionally invest in organizations that are rooted in their communities and working to address needs that are often underfunded.
For The AIP BIPOC Network (ABN), Give 8/28 is an opportunity to strengthen work that happens year-round: improving quality of life for people impacted by autoimmune disease and chronic illness and helping communities connect with health information, resources, wellness opportunities, advocacy, and support.
Give 8/28 is an annual national day of giving held on August 28 to support Black-led and Black-benefiting nonprofit organizations.
Created by the Young, Black & Giving Back Institute, Give 8/28 takes place during Black Philanthropy Month and encourages individuals and communities to intentionally support organizations serving Black communities.
You may also see the campaign referred to as Give 828, Give 8/28, or the August 28 Day of Giving.
At its core, Give 8/28 is about directing greater visibility and resources toward organizations that are often closest to the communities and issues they serve.
Community-based organizations often have something that cannot be created overnight: trust.
They hear directly from community members, understand barriers, build relationships, connect people with resources, and identify needs that may not always be visible to larger institutions.
But proximity to a problem does not automatically come with the resources to address it.
Programs, outreach, educational materials, technology, community events, transportation, staffing, and nonprofit operations all require funding. Give 8/28 creates a dedicated opportunity to invest in the organizations already doing this work.

The AIP BIPOC Network is one of the community-based organizations doing this work throughout the year. ABN connects people navigating autoimmune disease and chronic illness with health information, wellness opportunities, community resources, advocacy, and support.
Our work is guided by a dual AIP framework: Autoimmune Protocol + Access, Inclusion, and Prevention.
Give 8/28 helps ABN put both sides of this framework into action. Donations support work that responds to people’s immediate needs while also addressing the broader barriers, systems, and conditions that shape their health.
Supporting ABN through Give 8/28 means investing in a Black-led organization that understands these challenges through both lived experience and direct community engagement.
ABN carries out its work through five core programs:
Across this work, ABN is guided by five pillars:
Awareness • Advocacy • Action • Assessment • Alignment
These pillars guide how we educate, listen, respond to community needs, evaluate our work, build partnerships, and align people and resources around better health and quality of life.
Give 8/28 donations help ABN sustain the programs, outreach, partnerships, and infrastructure needed to carry out our mission throughout the year.
Your support can help make it possible to:
Individual donations are especially valuable because they can provide flexible funding.
Many grants and contracts are restricted to specific activities or expenses. Individual giving can help fill gaps, respond to emerging needs, maintain programs between funding cycles, and strengthen the infrastructure that keeps the organization operating.
You do not need to make a large donation to participate in Give 8/28.
A $10 gift can be part of the impact.
So can $28.
So can sharing ABN’s campaign with someone who has never heard of us.
Give 8/28 reflects the power of collective giving. When many people contribute what they can, individual actions become shared investment in the organizations and communities they care about.
There are also ways to participate beyond making a donation.
You can share ABN’s campaign, fundraise on our behalf, introduce us to potential partners or supporters, or choose to support our work throughout the year.
Black philanthropy has a long history that extends far beyond organized giving campaigns.
It can be seen in mutual aid, faith communities, civic organizations, giving circles, volunteering, families, neighbors, and generations of people pooling their time, money, knowledge, and connections to support one another.
Give 8/28 brings national attention to that tradition while creating an intentional opportunity to invest in Black-led organizations.
It also reminds us that philanthropy is not reserved for foundations, corporations, or people capable of writing large checks. Giving can include money, time, expertise, connections, advocacy, and other forms of support.
August 28 may be the giving day, but supporting the work does not have to begin or end there. Throughout the year, there are many ways to support The AIP BIPOC Network, from giving and fundraising to volunteering, partnering, supporting our programs, and using everyday opportunities to help strengthen our mission.
